Superstars calls off Sentul round for 2012
Superstars has dropped its planned Indonesian round from the 2012 calendar and will conclude its season at Enna on 28 October
The series had planned to race at the Sentul circuit for its season finale on 25 November.
But Superstars announced on Friday that the Indonesian track had not managed to secure FIA homologation in time, and that given the length of notice needed to transport the Superstars equipment and personnel to Asia, it had to cancel the event. The series remains confident it will race at Sentul in 2013.
"We greatly appreciate the work done by the Sentul circuit to bring it in line with the standards requested by the Superstars International Series and we are sorry for the loss of a race that the Sentul circuit organiser has already widely promoted on a national level," said a Superstars statement.
"Nevertheless, the large investment of the promoter, the teams, the service providers and the drivers that must be undertaken in order to participate in the event cannot be put at risk.
"We are confident that everything done by the local promoter and the central organisation will produce an event of great success in 2013."
Audi driver Johan Kristoffersson goes into what will now be the title decider at Enna next weekend 10 points ahead of ex-Formula 1 man Tonio Liuzzi and 28 clear of Thomas Biagi with 44 points available.
