Luiz Razia reckons he can be on Formula 1 grid in 2013

The GP2 race-winner, who finished runner-up in this year's series, is pushing hard to get into F1 - and thinks there are good opportunities for him both to run at the forthcoming young driver test in Abu Dhabi and also grab a full-time race seat for next year.

"Things are moving in a very positive way for next season," Razia told AUTOSPORT. "There was a very big doubt at the end of 2011 that I would even be able to keep racing, but after this season - which was a brilliant year for us - it has opened up a lot of opportunities.

"If I didn't have the results it would be difficult to convince teams, but now teams are being positive. It is not easy for anybody trying to get into F1, but at least I have a chance now."

Razia says he is in discussions with several teams about opportunities for 2013, and thinks his financial backing and talent should put him in good stead.

He already has experience of F1 machinery, having most recently tested for Force India at the Magny-Cours young driver test. He has also previously driven for Virgin (now Marussia) and Lotus (now Caterham) - which included two Friday free practice sessions.

"We are in constant contact with three or four teams and actually that is the main goal, I want to be on the grid. There is a possibility for the Abu Dhabi test too, although that is something we need to finalise.

"I know that every single team is looking for sponsorship, but I have some investors who are interested in moving my career on."

Although Razia would not reveal which teams he was in talks with, he says that with only a few vacancies left on the grid it was not hard to work out where he was targeting.

"I know a few teams quite well," he said. "I have tested before for Force India, and people know I have a good relationship with Caterham and Marussia.

"They all know I have stepped up a lot this year, and that things went very well in GP2.

"I not only want to make this push to F1, I am ready to do it."
