Sebastien Loeb still as motivated as ever to win Rally d'talia
Nine-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb says he starts next weekend's Rally d'Italia as determined as ever to secure victory in Sardinia
Just over a week after securing his latest title success, Loeb begins the recce in Italy in search of his 76th WRC win and his fifth Sardinian success in what will be eight starts on the island.
"When I line up at the start my goal is to achieve the best possible result and therefore to win," Loeb said.
"I want to enjoy myself when driving and to push so that I make the most of what will be one of my last world championship rallies.
"Sardinia is a tough event and I remember having a few scraps here against rivals who have always been very quick on this surface.
"We have seen in the last few rallies that we're not head and shoulders above the rest, so we'll have to fight hard."
Having spent time at home since winning Rallye de France last week, Loeb says he is still amazed at the numbers that turned out to cheer he and co-driver Daniel Elena on.
"There were quite a few emotional moments, especially on Sunday, when we went through the places near where I grew up," he added.
"I was taken aback by how many people turned out to support me throughout the whole week in Alsace. It's mad how popular rallying has become in Alsace."
