Michael Schumacher to defend Race of Champions Nations' Cup

Michael Schumacher 2012Michael Schumacher will return to the Race of Champions in December to chase more success with Team Germany partner Sebastian Vettel.

The two Formula 1 world champions have won RoC's Nations' Cup contest for the past five years.

"I've turned into a Race Of Champions regular and the event is very entertaining," said Schumacher, who has yet to commit to continuing his F1 comeback beyond 2012.

"It is not so much the competition which makes me come back as the fun and the time you spend with the other drivers.

"But racing in a stadium is sensational - and it's a very different experience for us drivers to hear the fans so close.

"And of course we are all professionals so the moment we close the visor we want to win."

The RoC moves to Bangkok in Thailand this year after two editions in Germany. It takes place on 15-16 December.

"I have never raced in Thailand before so this will be an interesting addition to my motorsport travels," said Schumacher.

"Of course it means Team Germany won't have the home advantage of the past two years but Seb and I managed OK in London and Beijing so we hope it won't stop us from keeping up our run."

Schumacher and Vettel are both still chasing their first victories in the RoC's individual competition, which has never been won by a current F1 driver.
