Scott Dixon quickest on sixth day of Indianapolis 500 practice
Scott Dixon went quickest on the sixth day of practice for the Indianapolis 500, the Ganassi driver and 2008 Indy winner setting the pace with a 40.3428s lap that was clocked at 223.088mph
Dixon finished the day just ahead of Sarah Fisher Hartman's Josef Newgarden and Ganassi stable-mate Graham Rahal, and said that the team had been making steady progress with the car throughout the week.
"We've taken this week a little slower," said the New Zealander. "We didn't have the speed; these speeds are all big tows, so it doesn't really matter much.
"For us, we're just working on the race car, and I think we've made big improvements on how it feels. For me, I feel happy because we made the car feel a lot nicer to drive, and especially in traffic it pulls up better.
"Tomorrow and Saturday are going to be totally different stories to see who's got what out there by themselves, so that will be interesting."
Teams will have their boost levels turned up for from 130 to 140 kPA for Fast Friday, Pole Day on Saturday and Bump Day on Sunday, which the series predicts will result in an extra 40 to 50 horsepower.
Boost will be reduced to its normal speedway levels for the race.
