Felix Serralles splashes to his second British Formula 3 win at Monza

Felix Serralles won the British Formula 3 International Series reversed-grid race in heavy rain at Monza

The Puerto Rican took full advantage of his pole position to sprint clear of the pack after the first two laps had been run behind the safety car. He becomes the first two-time winner in this year's series with his Fortec Motorsport Dallara-Mercedes.

Jack Harvey took one and a half laps to work his way around Nick McBride with an outside pass into the Ascari chicane. While he took a big chunk of time out of Serralles's lead on the next lap, the man at the front increased his pace to hold on by almost four seconds.

Nevertheless, Harvey retakes the championship lead, vaulting above Carlin Dallara-Volkswagen team-mates Carlos Sainz Jr and Jazeman Jaafar, who were eighth and fifth respectively.

Winner Serralles said: "I was unlucky yesterday - but lucky to finish 10th and get pole! I was just being cautious and maintained the gap. Then I could see Harvey in my mirror and thought maybe I'd push a little."

McBride's T-Sport Dallara-Nissan was also passed by Pietro Fantin, the Brazilian Carlin driver completing the podium.

While Serralles provided joy for Fortec, the rest of the Daventry team was less happy. Alex Lynn was penalised for short-cutting the chicane on the final lap while trying to fend off team-mate Pipo Derani. The results therefore reverse the positions with the Brazilian taking sixth.

After the race, Derani - not realising the chequered flag had come out - was launched over Lynn's rear wing and into a big crash at the Curva Grande. His participation in race three is uncertain due to the damage.

Meanwhile, Hannes van Asseldonk hit the barriers at Parabolica on his sighting lap in the remaining Fortec car.

In National Class, an off for Spike Goddard at Parabolica gave Duvashen Padayachee a maiden win in his Double R Racing Dallara.
