Sebastian Saavedra takes Barber Indy Lights pole for Andretti Autosport

Sebastian Saavedra secured pole position for this weekend's Indy Lights race at Barber Motorsports Park

The Andretti Autosport driver, who returned to Lights this year after spending last season in IndyCar with Conquest, set a best time of 1m16.4968s with six minutes remaining.

Sam Schmidt Motorsports drivers Tristan Vautier and Esteban Guerrieri were both shaping up for a crack at Saavedra's time but were denied the chance when team-mate Oli Webb spun off at Turn 12 and skidded backwards into the barriers with four minutes left on the clock, bringing out the red flag.

The session was not restarted and Webb, who at that point was fifth-fastest, will be docked his best time for causing a stoppage. The Schmidt team's frustration was compounded by its fourth driver, Victor Carbone, spinning off the damp track at the start of the session and failing to set a time.

Vautier managed to finish up second fastest ahead of Andretti's Carlos Munoz, with Guerrieri fourth.
