Double disappointment for Player's/Forsythe
Both of the Player's/Forsythe cars suffered mechanical problems in the CART race at Nazareth, denying the team the chance to get a double top six finish
Patrick Carpentier, returning after missing three races with a broken wrist, and team-mate Alex Tagliani ran tenth and 13th initially, part of a train of cars chasing seventh-placed Roberto Moreno.
The two Canadian's were both ahead of PacWest's Mauricio Gugelmin, the man who eventually came within 0.8s of victory. However, an electrical problem took Carpentier out of contention while Tagliani was black-flagged for leaking fluids shortly after moving into the top eight.
"It's too bad," said Carpentier, "I did as many laps as I could and I'd love to get back out there but the engine shut down four or five times which I guess means an electrical problem.
"So we had to stop in the pits, which is too bad because the car was running good."
"The car was very good and our strategy was good too," added Tagliani, "but we had some kind of leak. I don't know if it was oil or water."
