Valsecchi fastest on third and final day of pre-season testing in Jerez

Davide Valsecchi completed a dominant start to GP2 pre-season testing by topping the third and final day at Jerez, having also gone fastest on days one and two

The DAMS driver set his best time, a 1m25.567s, early on in day three, which was interrupted by a delaminating kerb and by several red flags.

Stefano Coletti kept up his own strong start to the GP2 pre-season by finishing second fastest for Scuderia Coloni, little more than one tenth of a second down on Valsecchi.

Esteban Gutierrez, who caused one of the red flags when he stopped in the Turn 1 gravel bed, ended the day third fastest for Lotus GP.

Giedo van der Garde (Caterham) was less than two hundredths of a second down the road in fourth, the Dutchman also completing 96 laps, the most of any driver.

Carlin's Max Chilton and iSport's Marcus Ericsson were the last drivers to dip under the 1m26s mark, ending the day fifth and sixth respectively.

GP2's second and final pre-season test takes place at Barcelona on 6-8 March.
