Jordan Taylor joins Corvette Racing for Le Mans 24 Hours and ALMS enduros

Jordan Taylor will make his Le Mans 24 Hours debut with the factory Corvette Racing outfit this year

The son of two-time Daytona 24 Hours winner Wayne Taylor was named as one of the squad's 2012 enduro drivers on Thursday as the factory GM outfit announced that it would again compete in the GT category of the American Le Mans Series as well as the French classic this season.

Taylor, the runner-up in the Grand-Am GT class last year, takes the place of Antonio Garcia, who has been promoted to a full-time drive with the team following Olivier Beretta's departure. The 20-year-old American's programme will also include the ALMS enduros; the Sebring 12 Hours and Petit Le Mans.

"We have watched Jordan develop as a fine young driver over the years, and when he had an opportunity to test for Corvette Racing, his performance was very impressive," said GM racing director Mark Kent.

"He is totally dedicated to racing, gives great feedback, understands how to interpret data, and knows how to make changes to the car and his driving style to suit the conditions. He has tremendous potential and we see this opportunity as an investment in the team's future."

Britain's Richard Westbrook will be the other enduro driver, as he was in 2011, and will have an identical programme to Taylor.

Oliver Gavin, Jan Magnussen and Tommy Milner will all continue as full season drivers in the C6.Rs, with Garcia joining them.
