Felix Serralles to make British F3 bow with Fortec
Felix Serralles will graduate to British Formula 3 this season with Fortec Motorsport
The 19-year-old Puerto Rican finished 12th in the Formula Renault Eurocup with Fortec last season and now becomes the Daventry team's third British F3 signing for 2012, alongside Brazilian sophomore Pipo Derani and Formula Renault UK champion Alex Lynn.
"I am very pleased to be racing again with Fortec," Serralles said. "I know that they will be the best team for me as I progress to Formula 3.
"I'm very excited to be among the first drivers to try the new car from Dallara. I know that it will be hard to adapt though and will be giving it everything."
Fortec team manager Mick Kouros believes Serralles will be a strong addition to Fortec's F3 line-up.
"We gave Felix some runs in the [old] F3 car towards the end of 2011 and he surprised us with his pace," Kouros said. "We think he will take to the new car and be a key player in the team alongside Pipo and Alex.
"We are all excited for the coming season - the drivers are enthusiastic and the engineering team is looking forward to working with the new car."
The first of its new Mercedes-powered Dallaras will appear at next weekend's AUTOSPORT International event in Birmingham, as part of a display to celebrate 60 years of Formula 3 in Britain.
The team is expected to announce a fourth driver for its 2012 line-up soon.
