Greaves Motorsport set to race in World Endurance Championship and Le Mans Series in 2012

Greaves Motorsport is set to compete in the World Endurance Championship next year as well as defending its Le Mans Series LMP2 title

The British squad plans to expand to a two-car line-up next year as it bids for crowns in both championships, although team principal Tim Greaves admitted that the scheduling of the series calendars will be crucial.

"The [Le Mans organisers] ACO have said the WEC and the LMS won't run on the same weekends," he said. "It will be difficult [to do both], but achievable. The plan is to have one car in each championship and two at Le Mans."

Greaves won the LMP2 category in the LMS this year with Tom Kimber-Smith and Karim Ojjeh, while Olivier Lombard joined the pair in Zytek-Nissan to take class honours at the Le Mans 24 Hours in June.

However, with the car's owner Ojjeh hanging up his helmet this winter, it is uncertain which machinery the outfit will use in 2012.

"We'd like to try the Lola Coupe," said Greaves, who confirmed that sticking with Nissan engines is his preferred option.

"On paper it looks the business and appears to be the best value for money, but the Zytek is quick enough and we know how to run it, and the ORECA is the fastest chassis. The deals aren't done yet."

No drivers have been signed for the programme either. Greaves said that he is keen to retain the services of Kimber-Smith and Lombard, and that the team has received several enquiries from other drivers since the LMS season finale at Estoril.
