Rally Argentina: Stage 11

Overnight leader Carlos Sainz is out of the Rally Argentina after crashing his Ford Focus near the end of stage 11

Both Sainz and co-driver Luis Moya are unhurt but the radiator on their Focus was smashed, bringing their rally to a premature end.

Marcus Gronholm, who snatched the advantage from Sainz at the start of leg two, is also in trouble, losing time after clipping a bank and causing a puncture on his Peugeot 206.

Nevertheless, he still has 10.7s in hand over Colin McRae, who was fastest on the San Agustin stage.

Richard Burns has moved into third as a result of the disappearance of Sainz, while his Subaru team-mate Juha Kankkunen has retaken fourth from Tommi Makinen.

Freddy Loix is now sixth while another problem for one of the top six could allow Alister McRae to become the first Hyundai WRC driver to score points.

Further back, Gabriel Pozzo has taken the lead in the Group N battle away from Gustavo Trelles while Kenneth Eriksson and Francois Delecour have made it back up to 12th and 13th as they continue to recover from their leg one drama's.
