Kevin Korjus to stand in for Rio Haryanto in DAMS' Auto GP line-up in Germany
Rising Estonian star Kevin Korjus will make his Auto GP debut at Oschersleben this weekend
Korjus is currently racing in Formula Renault 3.5, where the 18-year-old has taken three race victories in his rookie season with Tech 1 Racing, placing third in the championship at present.
His Auto GP appearances comes as a substitute driver at DAMS, as Rio Haryanto will be contesting the clashing GP3 race in Hungary.
"I know that the series has an high level and it is a first time for me with DAMS and with the Auto GP car, so for sure it will be hard, but I hope we will be competitive and we can make some good results," said Korjus.
Series chief Enzo Coloni expects Korjus to be competitive from the outset.
"One of Europe's best motorsport talents joins our grid, I can only be delighted by that, also because it confirms that Auto GP has a strong appeal to some very different kinds of drivers, from veterans with many wins behind them to young guns like Korjus," Coloni said.
"I'm pretty curious to see how Kevin will cope with his Auto GP debut. He already showed that he's talented and that he can adapt very quickly to new cars and situations, and DAMS will provide him with a top car, so I won't be surprised if he will be quick from scratch."
