Ramon Paneiro takes easy win in second Brands Hatch race
Ramon Pineiro took a straightforward win in the second Formula 2 race at Brands Hatch today
Starting alongside polesitter Mirko Borolotti, the Spaniard took the lead with a good move around the outside of Bortolotti's car at the first corner, and never looked seriously threatened thereafter.
Bortolotti did well to avoid losing another spot to a strong challenge from race one winner Jack Clarke at the same time that Pineiro was driving past him, but he held the Briton off and the trio settled into the order that that would maintain for the rest of the race.
The lead trio rapidly pulled away from the chasing pack, but they were sufficiently strung out to eliminate any hope of a challenge.
It was a similar take through most of the field, with Armaan Ebrahim's efforts to defend eighth against Christopher Zanella offering the only real scrap for points.
Thiemo Storz and Maxim Snegirev both endured premature endings to their races; Storz eliminating himself with a trip into the barrier at Westfield and Snegirev retiring with broken suspension after contact with Ebrahim.
There were also problems for Kelvin Snoeks and Alex Brundle, both of whom pitted to have their bargeboards checked after trips through the gravel at the exit to Paddock Hill Bend.
