Jamie Green sure he can stretch his Norisring winning streak despite missing pole

Jamie Green is confident that his bid to win a fourth consecutive DTM race at the Norisring remains on course after he qualified third on Saturday

The British star has won on the German street circuit for the past three years, with the last two of those successes coming in an older-spec car.

He is back in the frontline HWA squad this year, meaning that he has a different chassis to the one he took his three victories in. However, he is satisfied that he is in good shape for the 82-lap race.

"The win is definitely possible," said Green. "I was the quickest Mercedes in Q3, and Mattias [Esktrom] just put a good lap in at the end to beat me to P1 in that segment.

"But we have a strong package and everything is possible for tomorrow. I won from P7 in 2009, so I've got a good chance."

Green made a mistake on his lap in the pole position-deciding Q4 session on Saturday, and he admitted afterwards that he was simply over-driving.

"I didn't do a perfect lap in Q4, but if you're going to do a slow lap time at least make it spectacular!" he said. "I gave it a good shot and obviously it was a bit over the limit. But I did what I could and I'm happy with third place.

"In Q4 you've got one shot and I didn't nail it. It's just a question of getting everything out of the car on the day."
