Adrian Campos Jr planning Donington return from back injury
Adrian Campos Jr plans to return to racing at Donington Park on July 17, almost two months after fracturing two vertebrae in an accident during practice for Auto GP's opening round at Monza in May
Campos Jr's rehabilitation has already been progressing faster than expected, and he resumed training almost two months ahead of doctor's predictions.
The Spaniard admits his injuries can still cause him pain, but remains fully focussed on a return to action at Donington.
"I pushed as hard as I could with all the recovery therapy: everyday I had workout sessions with controlled load, and I also had a lot of magnet therapy sessions to heal the fractures," said Campos. "I am really working at full steam. During training and immediately after I don't feel any pain, while some hours later I just have a spot of bother, but nothing serious.
"I can work hard at the gym, and also during the recovery period I could train my shoulders a bit, so with two weeks remaining to prepare for the event I should be okay."
Campos Jr also played down any disadvantage the injury - and subsequent loss of seat time - may cause him, saying: "Having covered much less mileage than the others is a handicap, but I'm not worried.
"Before the season I knew that my primary aim for 2011 was getting some experience of this car. I know that there is no pressure on me to get a win or a podium finish now that I'm coming from such a crash.
"I'm really satisfied with myself and the rcovering time. As my conditions started improving I wanted to be back in the car already in Brno, but it would have been too early, so I had to wait for Donington."
