Over 20 WRC cars for Rally Finland

Rally Finland will enjoy the strongest field of new generation World Rally Cars to date this year, when 20 take the start in Jyvaskyla next month

Aside from the regular Citroen and Ford entries, Mini returns with two factory John Cooper Works WRCs for Kris Meeke and Dani Sordo.

Locel stars Matti Rantanen and Mattias Therman will also drive Prodrive-built cars, with Rantatnen hoping to improve on the seventh overall he managed in 2008. There are six Minis in total, with regulars Daniel Oliveira and Armindo Araujo competing.

In addition to its two works drivers - Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala - Ford will field yet more talented Finns, with Jari Ketomaa and Janne Tuohino both driving Fiesta RS WRCs and well capable of finishing in the points.

Citroen DS3 WRC driver Kimi Raikkonen will also be a big draw as he tackles his home WRC round for the third time. Former Suzuki driver P-G Andersson's hopes of entering a Fiesta RS WRC have been dashed, but the Swede will start in a Subaru Impreza R4.

As usual, demand for Rally Finland is high, with 124 cars on the entry list for the two-day WRC round which takes in stages around Lahti as well as the traditional Jyvaskyla roads this year.
