H5: Davidson takes lead for Peugeot

Anthony Davidson gave Peugeot the lead of the Le Mans after the fifth hour of the race

Davidson jumped previous leader Marcel Fassler in the #2 Audi when Fassler came into the pits for the sixth time. Peugeot have been able to last longer between stops, and Davidson currently has a 17s lead but has only completed five stops.

Audi seemed to have the edge in raw pace, as Romain Dumas in the #1 R18 had closed rapidly on Davidson for second - only to dive into the pitlane before he was able to mount a full challenge on Davidson.

Dumas then suffered a spin coming through traffic at the Tertre Rouge, although he recovered in fourth position.

Simon Pagenaud in the #9 Peugeot is currently third, while Nicolas Minassian took over from Stephane Sarrazin in the #8 Peugeot, which is currently fifth.

In the petrol class, Julien Jousse took the lead in the #16 Pescarolo-Judd after hunting down and passing Neel Jani in the #11 Rebellion Racing Lola.

Dominik Kraihamer continued to stretch the #48 Team ORECA's lead in the LMP2 class, which is now comfortably more than three minutes to Nick Leventis in the #42 Strakka HPD.

Richard Westbrook meanwhile took over the leading #74 Corvette in the GTE Pro class, enjoying a 39s advantage over Joey Hand in the #56 BMW M3 GT.

Michele Rugolo led the GTE Am class in the #57 Ferrari 430 GT.

NOTES:

- The #3 Audi of Allan McNish crashed out of the race in the first hour having just taken second position. The Scot collected the #58 Luxury Racing Ferrari in the right-hander after the Dunlop Bridge. The heavy impact destroyed the car and the Scot was taken to hospital for precautionary checks, but appears to be unhurt.

- Both Aston Martin AMR Ones ran into trouble on the first lap of the race. Darren Turner spinning with mechanical trouble and Adrian Fernandez stopping out on the Mulsanne. The #007 car of Turner was recovered to the pits where it was discovered an alternator belt tensioner was to blame.
