Onslow-Cole splits with AmD Milltek

British Touring Car squad AmD Milltek Racing failed to start the final race at Oulton Park on Sunday because driver Tom Onslow-Cole has left the team

Onslow-Cole and the Volkswagen Golf team had made progress over the first three meetings of 2011, but had struggled at Oulton.

Just prior to race three, Onslow-Cole informed the team that he would be leaving to join another, unnamed, squad for the next round at Croft. AmD boss Shaun Hollamby therefore decided to withdraw its entry.

"We were told of Tom's decision 15 minutes before the final race today," he said. "There was no point [doing the race] because he doesn't have the money to fix any damage.

"It's disappointing because at the last race at Thruxton we really seemed to turn a corner and make the Golf a frontrunner.

"We have enjoyed working with Tom during his short time as part of AmD Milltek and wish him all the best for his future career."

Hollamby confirmed the squad does intend to appear at Croft and the rest of the 2011 season. "We've got to decide whether I step back in for the short-term or whether we get another driver on board," he added.

"We won't make the mistake not getting them to sign a contract."
