Latvala happy to be first on road
Rally Argentina leader Jari-Matti Latvala is adamant he is in the best place on the road going into the second day of the World Rally Championship round
Latvala had limited options for tactically slowing down, with the three drivers ahead of him on the road at least 28.8 seconds behind in the standings - but the Finn said tactics were never part of his plan, as he always wanted to lead.
The Finn takes an 18.2s advantage over Petter Solberg into the second day.
"I'm very happy with the day," Latvala said. "I believe first on the road is the right place for tomorrow. One thing is for sure, I know I will not have any problems with the dust! There might be some cleaning in some of the sandy sections, but I don't believe it will be such a problem."
Tomorrow's stages are south of Villa Carlo Paz on the generally faster roads around Santa Rosa.
"I like the roads tomorrow," said Latvala. "It's going to be a good fight. I'm not saying I'm in the best place to win this rally - we can't say that when we have such a big stage on Sunday [Ascochinga, 30 miles], but it's a good place to be."
