Stoner hopes Pedrosa recovers fast

Casey Stoner hopes his Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa's latest injury does not end up spoiling the Spaniard's 2011 title hopes

Pedrosa will find out today if he needs surgery to fix the broken collarbone he sustained when he crashed after contact with Marco Simoncelli in yesterday's French Grand Prix.

Although the combination of Stoner's win, Pedrosa's retirement and Jorge Lorenzo's tough run to fourth brought the Australian back into the thick of the title fight, Stoner said he did not want to profit from rivals' injuries.

"It's definitely not the way I want to take points back," he insisted.

"Jorge had a crash in the warm-up and injured his finger, and that's not going to be the best thing for him. Dani crashed in the race and broke his collarbone."

Stoner said he felt great sympathy for Pedrosa, whose career has been dogged by injuries.

"We'll see what happens in the future, but Dani's so unlucky with these things," he said.

"This shouldn't happen. Already he's had a problem with the shoulder this year, and now he has a problem with the other shoulder.

"It's going to be tough for him to come back from. Luckily he has a bigger break [between races] than at other parts of the year to recover and be back quite quickly. But it's going to be very tough for him.

"My condolences to him and hopefully he can come back quickly and try to be fast, because for the championship we all know he's a big threat."
