Herck tops final day of GP2 testing
Scuderia Coloni's Michael Herck led the way in GP2 testing at the Barcelona circuit, on the final day of preparations ahead of the start of the season next month
The Belgian-Romanian driver posted a 1m29.608s, the quickest time of the two days of testing, to outpace Sam Bird by less then 0.030 seconds.
The morning session was incredibly close, with 12 drivers covered by less than four tenths and 18 finishing within the same second. The 16 fastest times of the day were set in the morning.
GP2 Asia champion Romain Grosjean was third quickest, with yesterday's pace-setter Davide Valsecchi in fourth and compatriot Luca Filippi in fifth.
Three red flags interrupted the session, which again took place under sunny conditions.
The GP2 Series kicks off in Turkey next month.
