Q & A with Sebastien Ogier
Jordan Rally winner Sebastien Ogier emerged victorious from the closest WRC fight ever last week. He talks to AUTOSPORT about his feelings on the event
Q. How does it feel to win? Is this just another win?
Sebastien Ogier: The best thing is that I win. For sure, I also think a little bit about Jari-Matti [Latvala], he has done a very good job this weekend. It was so close between us and, at the end , the small gap is for me, so I must be pleased. It's like this sometimes: sometimes it's for you and sometimes not. In New Zealand last year, I lost the victory for three tenths.
Q. You know what Jari-Matti's feeling?
SO: Yes I do. But, I can tell you, this feeling is better than the feeling I had after [retiring in] Mexico!
Q. What do you think about the championship this year? Sebastien [Loeb] talks about this being a really close one. Do you agree?
SO: It looks like it. We are four drivers in eight points, so it's quite close. It's going to be the same like this for the rest of the year. At the start of the year, I said I wanted to try to do my best and I knew it would be difficult because of my experience, but I knew I had the speed to fight for the victory on almost every rally and now I have to get the consistency.
Q. Do you fear anything this year?
SO: Maybe on tarmac it will be a little bit more difficult with Seb, but it's early to speak about that. We have not done a lot of tests on tarmac yet and we have the new car, but we know that Seb can be very strong on this surface.
Q. Do you feel you getting the better of your team-mate now? Two wins from two rallies...
SO: I have done it for two times, but I can't say it will be like this for all of the season. He's very fast and it's going to be very close between us, but hopefully I'm going to get other victories this year - and I'm sure he will get some as well.
