Ocean signs Cecotto, Mirocha

Ocean Racing Technology has signed Johnny Cecotto Jr. and Kevin Mirocha to compete in the GP2 Series this season

The team had run Oliver Turvey and Andrea Caldarelli in the Asia series, but has decided to change its line-up for the main championship for 2011.

Cecotto Jr., the 21-year-old son of former F1 driver Johnny Cecotto, had previously raced with Trident and Supernova in GP2.

"I am very grateful to Ocean Racing Technology for giving me this opportunity," said Cecotto. "I will do my best, and I hope that we can fight for the wins that we deserve.

"It's a sound team with very experienced members. I know all the GP2 Series circuits, especially Monaco, which I like a lot and where I finished 4th last year. My objective is to bring home some good results and to continue in the sport, and also to thank the team, sponsors, and Venezuelans for having confidence in me."

Nineteen-year-old Mirocha joins the team after having competed in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC series last year.

"I am very happy to be entering the championship with Ocean Racing Technology," he said.

"It is very nice to get a start with such a professional team. I have everything to learn, but I am confident that with the team's help I should be able to quickly find the right rhythm. I will be the youngest driver in the GP2 Series, but I am very confident!"
