AirAsia GP2 duo to test with Lotus

AirAsia GP2 drivers Davide Valsecchi and Luiz Razia will get their first Formula 1 test with parent team Lotus at Barcelona tomorrow

The duo will share the Lotus T128 for the morning session on day one of the final winter test, before handing over to race driver Jarno Trulli at lunchtime.

Lotus has said that Valsecchi and Razia could get some mileage in Friday practice sessions at grands prix later this year if they impress sufficiently in GP2.

Both already have some F1 testing experience. Razia was Virgin's official test driver last year and drove for the team in the Abu Dhabi young driver sessions, where Valsecchi made his F1 testing debut with Hispania.

Lotus has also given Formula 2 driver Ricardo Teixeira some mileage during winter testing.

The other team set to run a non-race driver at Catalunya this week is Force India, which will give its reserve Nico Hulkenberg his first taste of the 2011 car tomorrow morning. Hulkenberg drove the 2010 Force India at Valencia earlier this year, but has yet to try the new car. He will drive in Friday practice sessions this season.

Most other teams are sharing mileage equally between their race drivers at Barcelona this week, with the exception of Virgin, where Jerome D'Ambrosio has the car to himself while Timo Glock recovers from his appendix surgery.

HRT has yet to reveal its driver line-up for the test, which should see the debut of its new F111.
