Blundell to continue in Grand-Am

Ex-grand prix driver Mark Blundell will make another Grand-Am appearance with United Autosports at Homestead this weekend

The team is keen to extend its partnership with Michael Shank Racing, which began with a Daytona 24 Hours entry that featured Blundell and Martin Brundle among its driver line-up, and has put together a late deal to run in the second round at the Miami track as well.

Blundell with share the Riley-Ford with MSR regular Michael Valiante.

"It's great to make such a quick return to the cockpit of the United Autosports with Michael Shank Racing Riley," said Blundell. "The entry was only confirmed 100 per cent today [Monday] so I haven't had much time to think about it. But with flight tickets now booked, I am really looking forward to racing at Homestead.

"I raced there on a different circuit configuration in my IndyCar days but never previously raced on the speedway/infield combined course. However, I had my first run in the #23 Riley there last December. It'll also be great to team up with Michael Valiante who I met for the first time at Homestead and then at Daytona - he is a very impressive driver."

Team co-owner and managing director Richard Dean said keeping Blundell on board was important to United Autosports' Grand-Am ambitions.

"I'm sure the #23 can play an important part in this race and the series in the longer term," said Dean. "To have Mark, who is now something of a regular for us, is an important endorsement and a sign of serious intent from United Autosports."

Blundell has also committed to racing in the Spa 24 Hours with United Autosports' Audi again this summer, having first joined the team for the Belgian event in 2010.
