Kubica eager to win races in 2011

Robert Kubica says he wants to be a in position to fight for race victories during the 2011 season, his second at the Renault team

The Pole and the French squad were one of the positive surprises of 2010, and now the team wants to take another step towards the front and fight for wins.

"I am confident that 2011 will be a good season because during this winter the team were able to work with a more stable financial and management situation, compared to one year ago," Kubica told the official Formula 1 website.

"[Team boss] Eric Boullier said that he wants our car to win races this year - he expressed exactly what I feel!"

Kubica also suggested he is calm about the situation within the team despite some changes to its structure following the arrival of Group Lotus as a title sponsor.

"Well, I didn't drive for Renault in 2009 and all the changes happened during the winter, before I really started to work with my new team," he said of the ownership changes of last year.

"There was an important reshuffle of shareholders, but the core of the team remained almost unchanged. This is what I have been told is happening again now."

The Pole, a one-time race winner and one of the highest rated drivers, claimed he is not disappointed not to have won the title yet.

"I am not disappointed since I am very aware that for winning a title you need several favourable circumstances," he added.

"It is a bit like a gearbox - if just one of the gears is not working properly then the whole mechanism collapses or at least loses competitiveness."
