Newman/Haas tests Hinchcliffe again
James Hinchcliffe says he is more eager than ever to secure an IndyCar seat with Newman/Haas after his second test with the legendary squad
Canadian Indy Lights frontrunner Hinchcliffe had his first IndyCar run with Newman/Haas alongside the experienced Oriol Servia before Christmas.
This week he was recalled for a further two days of running at Sebring, where Ganassi's Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti, Andretti Autosport driver Marco Andretti, and Panther's new signing JR Hildebrand were also in action.
No official results were released, but Newman/Haas said Hinchcliffe lapped in 54.08s on Thursday and 54.65s today, completing 130 laps across the two days despite sitting out this morning due to rain.
"Yesterday we did a lot of development work and today was more about race set-up and long runs," said Hinchcliffe.
"I got my first chance to do my first full-fuel run in an Indycar. It was another day dedicated to continuing my learning process and another great test with Newman/Haas Racing which makes me that much more anxious and eager to get a deal done."
Hinchcliffe, 24, raced for Canada in A1GP and was a frontrunner in the Atlantic series before joining Indy Lights in 2009. He was runner-up to JK Vernay in last year's championship.
