Parr: Williams in great financial shape

Adam Parr is positive about the state of the Williams team's finances, despite speculation that Nico Hulkenberg will have to be replaced by a paying driver next season

The German driver's future at Williams has been called into question in the last month because the team might need to take a driver that brings more financial backing, with GP2 champion Pastor Maldonado scheduled to drive for it in the young driver test days at Abu Dhabi.

Hulkenberg staked his claim for a place in next year's line-up with a sensational pole position at Interlagos last Sunday, and Williams CEO Adam Parr says the team is now "financially in great shape".

"We haven't made any decisions about our driver line-up for next year. What we have done is replaced all the sponsorship we have lost," Parr said at Abu Dhabi on Friday.

"I feel more positive about the future than I have for a long time. Financially, we are in great shape. We are positive about the future.

"We have not made a decision about the future line-up because we need to see the whole season, and when we have, we will announce them."

Parr also praised Hulkenberg following his performance in Brazil.

"It was a very exciting moment for the whole team, sadly we don't get them very often but it was exciting," he said.

"It is enormously difficult for a driver coming into F1 with almost no testing, even someone with his track record, and he has been challenging at times.

"We have seen great progress in his consistency and his race pace. We are proud of what he has achieved this year."
