FPR claims front row for race two

After a disaster in race one of the Gold Coast 600, Ford Performance Racing bounced back in emphatic style, taking a clean sweep of the front row for race two

Having been unable to show his strong weekend pace in yesterday's race, Mark Winterbottom showed that he's the man to beat at Surfers Paradise with an amazing effort of 1m12.0389s, a whopping 0.3s ahead of a field in which a second covered the top 19.

FPR delight was doubled in the final seconds of the session when Steven Richards stitched together a great effort to nick into second, knocking James Courtney off the front row by just 0.02s.

Jamie Whincup was the top Holden in fourth, while another great late effort lifted Jason Bright into sixth. But it was a poor session for yesterday's winner Garth Tander, who picked up damage in his HRT Holden and ended up way back in 15th.
