Dolby not giving up on title yet

Although Rigon will start on pole and is favourite for Sunday's races, an extra spanner has been thrown in the works as the two 45-minute races will be run back-to-back, rather than have a three-hour gap between them as usual. Rigon leads Dolby by 19 points, with 106 still on offer - albeit with a totally reversed grid for race two.

"I'm still fighting with Rigon and I won't give up until it's mathematically impossible to beat him," said Dolby. "It helps that my team-mate [Beijing Guoan's John Martin] is starting from the front row alongside him, but he's not going to do anything stupid. John's racing for himself and wants to win the €100,000 [for winning the super final]."

ADR driver Dolby will start fifth, after being beaten in his quarter-final by Rigon's Azerti team-mate Franck Perera (Bordeaux).

"I'm pleased I'm starting fifth, because I've won races from a lot further back from that," said Dolby. "I made a big mistake on my lap at Turn 9, which cost me three tenths, but he only beat me by less than one tenth. A few little things like that haven't gone my way this year, but anything can happen tomorrow."

Although Yelmer Buurman (AC Milan) starts third, he is 44 points off Rigon and fifth in the standings.

"The gap is quite big between us, but I'll do my best and see how far we can get towards the top," Buurman said. "I know it's going to be tough, and the title can only happen for me if something happens to Davide."

Rigon's closest challenger, FC Basel's Max Wissel, starts 13th after a dismal qualifying effort. "The car felt balanced, but was one second too slow," he said.

Ben Hanley is tied on points with Dolby for Olympiacos, but starts 11th after a similar lack of grip from his car.
