Alonso says 2010 his best season yet

The Spanish driver joined Ferrari from Renault this year, and has enjoyed a successful season, having scored four wins.

Alonso is 14 points behind championship leader Mark Webber with three races remaining, and says he will be very happy with his season even if he ends up losing out.

"I think we've had up and downs during the season, but it's been a great 2010 championship," said Alonso ahead of the Korean Grand Prix on Thursday.

"Driving for a new team, I've had a great integration at Ferrari from day one, so it has been a best year in my career so far, with a great experience.

"I'm very happy so now in the last three races we will try to do our best to arrive in a position to fight for the championship in Abu Dhabi. We came back, we made some good steps in the last five/six grands prix so it should be same in the last few races, with some better circuits and some worse circuits for all of us."

He added: "It is not finished so we will see how it ends this year, but in terms of happiness, in terms of motivation, driving, the team itself, it is the best one, so obviously it would be nice to become champion this year but if we cannot do it I will have great, great memories of 2010 anyway."

The Spaniard, who has no new engines to use without a penalty this year, is optimistic the situation will be fine in the final races of the year.

"I think we are okay," he said. "The first problems with the engine in races two and three put us in a difficult situation but after that we planned the year, the championship, in a different way, and so far it has been under control.

"So we should have no concerns for the remaining races and everything is okay for us."
