Triple 8 impressed with Tordoff
Sam Tordoff has "a big future" in the British Touring Car Championship ahead of him, according to Triple 8 Vauxhall team principal Ian Harrison
The Clio Cup graduate qualified eighth for his BTCC debut with Triple 8 at Brands Hatch last weekend, just 0.3s slower than pole-sitter Jason Plato.
"He did very well," Harrison, whose squad has won six drivers' titles since 2001, told AUTOSPORT.
"To qualify where he did shows a lot of potential and all weekend he acquitted himself well and never let the pressure get to him."
Harrison bemoaned a drive-through penalty that Tordoff was handed in race one for exceeding the track limits three times at the exit of Paddock Hill bend while on course for seventh place.
"It was unfortunate, especially as that going off track rule is pathetic," he added.
"If they [race officials] don't want anyone putting their wheels over the white lines, they should make tracks get rid of asphalt run-off and replace them with grass or something. You watch how quickly drivers would stick to the track then..."
