BVM Target to join FRenault 3.5

Leading Italian single-seater team BVM Target is set to add a 2011 Formula Renault 3.5 assault to its domestic Formula 3 and Abarth programmes

A 13th entry in the Renault championship has been vacant since the closure of SG Formula prior to this year's opening round.

BVM Target, run by Guiseppe Mazzotti and Roberto Venieri, claimed the 2009 Italian F3 championship with Daniel Zampieri. Success has continued into this season, as Cesar Ramos leads the current standings while Brandon Maisano heads the burgeoning Formula Abarth series.

"Renault has granted us an entry, we have two new cars and hope to run for the first time at the end of season tests at Barcelona and Motorland Aragon," said Mazzotti. "The entry will be BVM Target as we run cars under that name in Formula 3 and Formula Abarth, but the licence is just BVM."

As yet, no decision has been taken on drivers, although Mazzotti has not ruled out the possibility of continuing his relationship with Ramos and current Pons Racing FR3.5 driver Zampieri.

"We have worked with Cesar Ramos for two years of Formula Renault and a year of Formula 3, so we are working to have him in the team," said Mazzotti.

"Zampieri's father is helping us with this adventure, but Daniel's future depends on what Ferrari wishes as he is part of the Academy. We could work with him again or he may end up in GP2. We are also talking to other drivers for the future."
