Meyrick to race for Aston Martin
Andy Meyrick is to race the factory Aston Martin LMP1 car in the final round of the Le Mans Series, the AUTOSPORT 1000kms at Silverstone later this month
Aston Martin Racing will be the third major prototype team that Meyrick has driven for this season. He contested the Le Mans 24 Hours with ORECA, and is also part of Dyson Racing's American Le Mans Series line-up this year, joining the squad for endurance events including the season-ending Petit Le Mans next month.
Meyrick, who will share the #007 AMR entry with Adrian Fernandez and Harold Primat, has already tested the car at Donington Park.
"I'm really excited to be driving for Aston Martin Racing," he said. "It will be the first time I've driven for a British team since Carlin in F3 and, at [Monday's] test, I found that I fitted in pretty quickly.
"We did about 40 laps at Donington Park just so I could get comfortable in the car and check out the different systems in the Lola Aston Martin. This will be the third different prototype I've driven this year so I've been learning a lot of new steering wheel layouts.
"It's also the first time this season that I'll be running on Michelin tyres but it didn't take long to get a feel for it again and I enjoyed the day a lot."
