Muller gets WRC drive for France
Former World Touring Car champion Yvan Muller is to contest the Rally of France in a Citroen Xsara WRC
The Frenchman has been given permission to drive the ex-Petter Solberg car by his WTCC employer Chevrolet. The Solberg team will run the Motors TV-backed car, which has been officially entered by the Automeca squad.
"While circuit racing has become my specialism, I think it's important to embrace new experiences. It's a definite plus," said Muller.
"Rallying at a high level has always been something I wanted to do and today I am very happy to see this project come to fruition for the Rally of France.
"It's also a great opportunity to explore the roads of my home region."
Though best known as a touring car racer, Muller has plenty of experience away from circuit racing, having won the Andros Trophy ice racing championship 10 times and also contested the Dakar Rally.
The Rally of France, round 11 of the 2010 World Rally Championship, takes place on 1-3 October.
