Edwards eager for new Tech 3 deal
Colin Edwards hopes he can stay on at Tech 3 Yamaha next year despite his tough 2010 season
While his current team-mate Ben Spies was announced as a factory Yamaha for 2011 today, Edwards' future plans have not yet been confirmed.
He finished an impressive fifth in last year's championship, but has struggled this year and currently sits only 10th in the standings, having not finished above seventh place.
"It's been very difficult," Edwards admitted. "We obviously finished fifth in the championship last year and came here kind of on a high thinking everything would be cool.
"This dumb-ass six engines per year rule, I don't know what they have there, but we've suffered. We've obviously suffered. We got a little bit developed, a little bit of a faster bike overnight and it seems to be working."
Edwards said he was not looking elsewhere despite this year's issues and wanted to remain at Herve Poncharal's Tech 3 squad for a third season.
"I would love to stay with Herve," he said. "I'd love to stay with Yamaha. That's my number one goal at the moment. We just need to try and make it happen.
"I think there are a couple chips that need to fall in the right place and I think it can happen."
