Da Costa wins second Euro F3 race
Antonio Felix da Costa took the spoils in the reversed grid race of the Formula 3 Euro Series for the second round in succession with a lights-to-flag win at Zandvoort
The Motopark Academy driver, who took his maiden win at the Nurburgring last time out, sustained race-long pressure from Signature's Laurens Vanthoor to take victory.
Vanthoor had slipped from second to third at the start, but once he had dispatched Carlos Munoz on lap two he set about closing the gap to the leader. However, once he got there he was unable to launch an attack on the Portuguese driver.
Munoz defended his third place aggressively against Mucke team-mate Roberto Merhi, but by the third lap he had lost that position as well. He then came under pressure from Alexander Sims, before the ART driver dropped back and fell into the clutches of Marco Wittmann in sixth.
Wittmann could not make any progress though, and had to settle for gaining just one point on championship leader Edoardo Mortara following a clash between the pair.
Mortara dropped to the rear of the field when his car was launched into the air as Wittmann tried to pass him on the inside at the chicane towards the end of the first lap. Despite that setback, Mortara still enjoys a 25-point lead in the championship over his German team-mate.
