Mowlem makes LMP return

Autocon LolaJohnny Mowlem will return to top-level LMP racing after securing deals with the Autocon Lola team for the next two rounds of the American Le Mans Series, and with the LNT Ginetta Zytek squad for the Silverstone Le Mans Series/Intercontinental Le Mans Cup event.

The Briton made two ALMS appearances in the LMPC class earlier this year, with his previous team Corsa Motorsports having put its hybrid prototype programme on hold for now.

He will return with Autocon regulars Bryan Willman and Tony Burgess for the Elkhart Lake and Mosport Park ALMS races over the next two weekends, before transferring to Ginetta with Burgess and fellow Autocon man Chris McMurray for Silverstone.

"Tony approached me at this year's Le Mans 24 hours to ask me if I would be interested in driving with him at Mosport," said Mowlem. "Tony and I have driven together before, back in the days when the ALMS had races in the UK. In fact, we drove a GT Porsche together at Donington in 2001.

"I remember him being really quick, so I'm looking forward to joining him at Mosport, along with Bryan Willman at Road America, and having a crack at a top result, especially given Autocon's fine podium result at their last race at Mid-Ohio."
