McLaren 'disappointed' with ruling
A press release from McLaren admitted the team was unhappy with the result of yesterday's FIA hearing, which confirmed that David Coulthard's disqualification from the Brazilian Grand Prix will stand
The team stands by its argument that the unusually harsh nature of the Interlagos track represented exceptional circumstances that extenuate the car's illegality.
The press release reiterated the cause of the car being found illegal after the 74-lap race - that damage to the underbody and front wing of the McLaren Mercedes MP4-15 resulted in the wing moving in relation to the reference plane, against which it is measured.
The press release claimed that this was "beyond the team's control".
"Naturally we are disappointed with the final outcome of this appeal, but we will not allow this to obscure our focus on the World Championship," said Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren International's managing director.
David Coulthard added "Obviously today's result isn't what I had hoped for, but it's Imola this weekend and I'm looking forward to getting into the rhythm at one of my favourite tracks."
Coulthard won at Imola two years ago - it was his only victory of the 1998 season.
