Leading Ferrari hits trouble at Spa

The fight for this year's Spa 24 Hours is currently between BMW and Porsche after the leading Ferrari hit trouble

Gianmaria Bruni had led the opening stages with AF Corse's GT2 Ferrari, but the team lost the lead to the number 79 BMW M3 at the first pitstops when Toni Vilander took over.

The Ferrari then had to stop again with a suspected rear wheel problem. It lost a lap and is now sixth.

The two GT National class BMWs then took over at the front, running faster than the Porsches and longer on fuel than the GT3 Audis.

But after the BMWs had made their second scheduled stops, a safety car allowed the two leading Porsches - the number 13 Prospeed car and number 23 BMS machine to make their second stops - to make their second stops during the caution period and eradicate BMW's advantage.

BMW also brought its two cars in and Dirk Werner currently leads in the 79 car towards the end of hour three, just ahead of Marco Holzer in the Prospeed Porsche. Wolf Henzler is third for BMS, with Jorg Muller fourth, around 20 seconds behind the leader.

The number 50 Phoenix Audi leads GT3 in seventh overall, but the team's other car is well back after suffering an electronics problem in the opening hour.
