Dolby still feeling Zolder injury

Tottenham Hotspur's Craig Dolby has admitted that his wrist injury, sustained in a startline crash at Zolder two weeks ago, affected his qualifying performance at Brands Hatch on Saturday

Dolby will start fourth in Sunday's opening race, despite setting the fastest lap of the weekend during the qualifying phases. He was knocked out of Superleague's unique system at the semi-final stage by Sevilla's Marcos Martinez - who went on to take pole - so Dolby will only start fourth.

"I'm the fastest loser, but that's only P4," he rued. "But we won at Silverstone from that position, so I'm happy with that. We've had a couple of races that, while I wouldn't say it was a bad spell, we weren't quite there. But we're definitely there now."

Ironically, Dolby was taken out by Martinez at the start of the second race at Zolder, and the sprain to his wrist has not yet fully healed.

"I went wide at Turn 1 onto the kerbs and I'm not very good on those because it hurts my wrist," he said of his semi-final lap. "It snatched the steering wheel and I lost a couple of tenths [to Martinez]. But I'm on row two, which is awesome, and now I want my championship lead back."

Dolby's cause was aided by points leader Yelmer Buurman going off on his qualifying lap at the quarter-final stage. Due to the vagaries of the Superleague qualifying system, however, Buurman will start right behind Dolby in fifth.
