Huff fastest in first Brands practice

Rob Huff kicked off his home World Touring Car weekend by setting the fastest time in Saturday's first practice session

The Chevrolet driver edged out fellow Briton Andy Priaulx's BMW by just 0.047s, with the second 3-Series of Augusto Farfus third.

They were the only drivers to break into the 1m33s during the half hour.

Reigning champion Gabriele Tarquini was just 0.007s shy of joining them, but lost any chance to improve when he drove into the gravel with three minutes remaining and brought an early end to the session.

The Chevrolets of Alain Menu and Yvan Muller were fifth and sixth quickest, with Colin Turkington seventh in his second outing of the year.

Robert Dahlgren is making his first WTCC appearance of the season for Volvo and was ninth fastest, behind Jordi Gene's SEAT and ahead of the Leons of Tiago Monteiro and Tom Coronel.

Tom Boardman was 13th on his first WTCC outing of the year, while newcomer Caca Bueno was 19th for Chevrolet.

The only major incident of the session was Michel Nykjaer's crash at Paddock Hill Bend. The Dane slid wide and into the tyre wall mid-way through the session, causing a 10-minute stoppage.
