SEAT quickest in Saturday practice

SEAT found its pace during Saturday morning practice at Zolder, with its drivers leading the way in both sessions

Tiago Monteiro led a Leon 1-2-3 in the damp FP1, ahead of Tom Coronel and Jordi Gene, before the order switched in the second session with Gene topping the timesheet ahead of Monteiro.

Augusto Farfus's BMW was the only non-SEAT in the top six in FP1, with the Chevrolets of Alain Menu and Yvan Muller seventh and eighth.

Andy Priaulx and Stefano D'Aste were black-flagged during FP1 for not respecting the track limits.

Muller and Menu were third and fourth in FP2, ahead of Harry Vaulkhard's independent Chevrolet Lacetti and Priaulx's BMW.

The SEATs of Norbert Michelisz and reigning champion Gabriele Tarquini were seventh and eighth quickest, ahead of Vaulkhard's Bamboo Engineering team-mate Darryl O'Young.

Final practice was red-flagged three minutes short of the full distance when Tarquini's engine blew, leaving a line of oil on the approach to the Terlamenbocht chicane.

Franz Engstler also spun into the gravel at Lucian Bianchibocht at the end.

Home drivers Pierre-Yves Corthals and Vincent Radermecker finished the final practice session in 15th and 16th.
