H8: #1 delay puts #2 Peugeot ahead

The #2 Peugeot now holds a narrow lead over the ORECA 908 after the leading #1 car lost four laps in the pits with alternator trouble

Franck Montagny is at the wheel of the French manufacturer's sole factory car not to hit trouble so far, with Olivier Panis only just over a minute behind in the as-yet problem free #4 car.

The #8 and #9 Audis are now running 10 seconds apart in third and fourth places, with Benoit Treluyer and Mike Rockenfeller at the controls. Allan McNish has taken over the #7 R15 and dropped behind Stefan Mucke's #007 Aston Martin in the process.

Marc Gene is back on track in the #1 Peugeot and now running in seventh place, one lap ahead of Darren Turner in the #009 Aston and two ahead of Oliver Jarvis in the #15 Kolles Audi.

Strakka Racing is back in possession of the LMP2 class lead. Jonny Kane moved ahead when he stayed in his HPD during a pitstop while Marco Werner handed the Highcroft machine over to David Brabham. Kane has a comfortable lead now after Brabham made a precautionary pitstop to check a vibration.

Thomas Mutsch still has two laps of breathing space in the #60 Matech Ford GT, with Stephane Gregoire having taken over the #72 Alphand Corvette.

It was an hour of attrition for the race's two most competitive classes and, sadly, the thrilling battle for the GT2 lead could not last the distance. The #82 Risi Ferrari hit trouble and has been sitting in the pits for the last 15 minute with a gearbox problem, leaving Corvette with a comfortable 1-2. Oliver Gavin is a minute clear of Jan Magnussen, with Richard Lietz two minutes further back in the #77 Felbermayr Porsche.
