Montagny: Peugeot will be 'mega'

Le Mans practice pacesetter Franck Montagny says he cannot wait to experience the Peugeot 908 HDI FAP's full potential in qualifying tonight

Montagny set a 3m20.024s lap on old tyres in practice, and when asked by AUTOSPORT if he expected to go a lot quicker in first qualifying, he replied: "Maybe... I had 35 laps on the tyres, it's not as good as a new set of tyres, and when there's soft tyres and no fuel, it's going to be mega."

Peugeot had a clear advantage in practice, with the three factory cars and the ORECA machine filling the top four places while Audi's best car was four seconds off Montagny's pace.

But the Frenchman said he was not looking at Peugeot's competition.

"I'm confident about what I've got with the car and the package and my team and my team-mates and everything, but I don't know anything about the others," he said.

"Audi can do whatever they want. It's not going to change anything from my side. If the Audis go fastest, what can I do?

"We're prepared for the race, we feel good, we're confident, it looks good today and let's see what happens."
