Loeb makes visit to Faro orphanage

Six-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb and his Citroen team-mate Dani Sordo presented a 2,500 cheque to an orphanage in Faro earlier this week - as part of the Rally of Portugal's drive to support the local economy and deserving causes in the Faro area.

The two C4 WRC drivers were joined by Automobile Club of Portugal president Carlos Barbosa and given a tour of the orphanage before they departed to start their recce for the Rally of Portugal, which starts on the Algarve tomorrow (Thursday) evening.

The money came from the entry fee paid for the sixth round of the World Rally Championship by the Citroen Total World Rally Team. The orphanage is home to 88 children under the age of five - all of whom are either orphans or victims of abuse.

The refuge has been caring for children in the Faro area for almost 50 years and while it receives some state support, the majority of its funding is derived privately, through local businesses and the community.
