Red Bull may run F-duct in Turkey

Red Bull Racing could introduce its F-duct at the Turkish Grand Prix, the team has admitted, as it bids to extract even more speed from its RB6

Even though rivals acknowledge that the Milton Keynes-based team has the fastest car on the grid, team principal Christian Horner says his staff are not going to rest on their laurels as they seek further improvements over the next few races.

"We still don't have the blown rear wing or F-duct, so inevitably there is a research project that is going on into that," he told AUTOSPORT. "Istanbul could be a venue where that could be introduced."

Horner says he has been impressed with the amount of progress that Adrian Newey's design team has made with the RB6 over the course of the season - especially with the extent of the upgrades that helped it win last weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.

"We had a race one upgrade that was late onto the car for the last test here just before race one," he explained. "Then we brought performance to the car at each of the grands prix to date.

"What we had in Spain was an evolution of what was introduced in Bahrain. Adrian and his guys have really taken the results out of Bahrain and that morphed into this.

"They have hit some ridiculously short lead times to be able to get the components to the cars, which is testament to all the guys in the factory."

Teams are unlikely to run their F-ducts in Monaco this weekend, because the straight-line speed boost it gives will not show up on the tight street circuit.
