Hirvonen rues final set-up changes

Ford's Mikko Hirvonen is ruing the overnight set-up changes to his Focus RS WRC 09, which he feel have cost him the chance of fighting to win Rally New Zealand

Hirvonen started this morning sixth on the road, one minute behind the leader. He goes into the final loop of stages having halved that deficit, but the Finn says his feeling for the car has gone.

"This really isn't my rally," he said. "For the first two days I didn't have the speed, but we had the fast car. Now we've got the speed, but the feeling in the car isn't right.

"This just p***** me off. We expected the weather to be drier and we changed the set-up for those conditions. Now we can't do anything with the set-up because this is a remote service, so we'll have to go out and drive the car the same."

Despite not being comfortable with the set-up, Hirvonen still managed to set fastest time on SS18 and was second quickest on the next test.
